Yes. Flashcards are scheduled with spaced repetition: cards you miss come back sooner, cards you know well come back less often, and each study session starts with the cards that are due.

When you upload notes, PDFs, or slides to a class, ClassMinds indexes them privately to your account. When you ask the tutor a question, it retrieves the relevant passages from your materials and uses them as context for the answer — so responses are grounded in your actual coursework.

Yes. The AI tutor answers from your own notes, slides and transcripts and cites the note it used, so you can open the source and check the answer yourself.

ClassMinds uses OpenAI's GPT-4 class models for reasoning. Your notes are not used to train any third-party model — they're used only to answer your own questions.

ClassMinds is designed as a tutor, not a homework bot. It explains concepts, walks through problems, and quizzes you on your notes — it's built to help you understand material, not to hand you answers.

Upload the class-schedule PDF you export from your school's registration portal, and AI builds your classes from it. ClassMinds sets up class codes, assignment tracking, and a chat room for each course.

Only students who have joined the same class with its class code or an invite link. Chats are per-class, not global — you won't see messages from students at other schools.

Yes — each note is either private or shared with your class, and you choose which. Your private notes stay private unless you explicitly share them, and your transcripts stay private to you either way.

Yes, on the free plan too. When a classmate shares a note with a class you've joined, you can study its summary, key points, flashcards and quizzes. Transcripts stay private to the person who recorded them.

Only you, unless you share a note with your class — then classmates in that class can study its summary, key points, flashcards and quizzes, but never your transcript. Uploads are stored encrypted at rest and scoped to your account. ClassMinds staff do not read your notes. See our Privacy Policy and Security page for full details.

Yes. Account deletion is available in Settings → Account. When you delete, your notes, uploads, and personal data are permanently removed; group-chat messages are tombstoned (sender replaced) so other students' conversations aren't orphaned.

ClassMinds is designed with FERPA and GDPR principles in mind: minimal data collection, user-controlled deletion, encrypted storage, and no training on user data. We're not currently a FERPA-covered service provider for institutions — contact us if your school needs a Data Processing Agreement.
